Johnson and Wales University

Student Life

Statistics show that students who live on campus not only do better academically, but have more fun! There are more than 1,400 students currently enrolled at the Denver campus, which is located on a beautiful 26-acre campus nestled in one of Denver’s most historic neighborhoods.

Student Life – Residential Housing

On-campus living is available, providing opportunities to make friends and create memories that rarely come again in life. We have five residence halls which offer traditional rooms, suites and apartments. Living-Learning Communities, better known as LLCs, are an exciting approach to combining residential and academic life at JWU. Interested students who choose to participate live on the same floor with other students who share an interest in Leadership in Scholarship, Wellness or Outdoor adventures.

Enjoy an Active Student Life

Take a break from the books. We can't lie to you; courses and homework will require a great deal of time. But if you don't take breaks to enjoy student life, you'll burn yourself out. Luckily, we offer numerous student activities, athletics and easy access to practical needs at all campus residences. Take advantage of our events and facilities and we're positive the quality of your student life will match the quality of your academic education.

Student Activities – Sports and Athletics

At Johnson & Wales, players have the opportunity to participate in club sports as an alternative to varsity sports. Club teams compete against other club teams from local colleges and universities. These student activities are excellent opportunities for players who want to compete at the collegiate level. The fitness center on the Denver campus offers a variety of free weights, nautilus weights and cardio equipment.

Student Activities – Clubs and Organizations

JWU’s national student organizations (NSO) are career-focused organizations whose members compete regionally and nationally, participate in leadership development and special social events and hear from guest speakers. JWU also awards scholarships (from $500 to full tuition) to incoming freshmen in recognition of their student activities in high school, including participation in BPA, DECA, FLBA, FCCLA, National FFA, JA, TSA and Skills USA. Last year JWU awarded more than $20 million in annual scholarships to NSO students.

The student affairs office provides support for JWU students in their co-curricular pursuits, as well as exposure to and participation in social, cultural, educational and recreational programs. There are a variety of organizations for students to participate in, including NSOs, Greek life, student government and campus-specific clubs and programs.

Throughout the year, the Denver campus hosts a variety of student-centered events, including Week of Welcome, Family Weekend, Movie Nights, Hanging of the Greens and Spring Fling, just to name a few. In addition, we host a variety of guests on our campus including hypnotists, comedians, motivational speakers and concerts. But don’t just take our word; stop by the campus to take a look at our active and vibrant student life. For official visitor programs, check out the student activities listed on our events page.
